Reformed University Fellowship at University of California - Santa Barbara

Welcome to RUF Christian Fellowship

ucsbrufWhat is RUF?  We are a Christian Fellowship on the UCSB campus.  RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) is a campus organization who holds to a historical creed (Westminster Confession of Faith), which means we have not invented ourselves but see ourselves in a long historical line of sinners in need of forgiveness.

Why do we exist?  Many religions and philosophies exist to point us onto a path to find God, enlightenment, or the good life. As Christians we believe the opposite.  God came to find us first, and then completed the path we could not, in Jesus.

Ultimately we agree with the gospel message: life, death, and resurrection.

The gospel basically means two things: 1) The human race is lost, not God.  2) Jesus was sent to the world to reintroduce the human race to God by his life, death, and resurrection.  His life was necessary to talk about God again.  His sacrificial death was necessary for the human rebellion against God.  Resurrection was the beginning of the re-creation of the race and universe from the inside out.  It is that profound, and yet that simple.
